Sensational March 23, 2006 Alan (Stafford, United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Armin van Buuren has produced an amazing album of different types of trance that really hit the spot. It is not only the choice of song, but the mixing and choice of order to put them on the album that increases the brilliance. It bascially offers a song from every quarter of trance that exists in the century, from pure classic trance to chillout electronica and slower more downbeat cuts. One minute you are floating in trance heaven, uplifted by songs such as Falling Anywhere (Kyau vs Albert), and then back in the club with tracks like Arcadia (Gabriel/Dresden). Either way, it will keep you moving all 'day and night,' as well as offering meaningful and catchy music that is refreshing to hear in 2006. If you love trance, or just good music, then this is certainly a must buy; it has everything you would want in a trance album. My personal favourites include 808 (Nu Frequency), Shivers (The man himself, van Buuren), Falling Anywhere (Kyau vs Albert), and Emotinal Void (Rucluse). Purchase and enjoy.

Yawn, YAWN and Yawn again - this album is boring. It has the odd good track - but it is trance by numbers...

After buying, listening to and loving a state of trance 2004 by AVB, i was let down by this CD. If anyone has bought 2004, and is thinking about getting this one then dont, because it certainly doesnt live up to the original. 2004 was a driving journey through trance with amazing tracks that all seemed to compliment each other, -- one of those mixes you can listen to form start to finish if u know what i mean. This has several weak songs - including some very poor in my opinion, cheesy female vocals. ('First time' on CD1) CD2 does make up for it somewhat but overall, dont expect a CD that is going to better or even equal A state of trance 2004.
An Amazing Journey! March 24, 2005 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
From the moment I starting playing this CD, I knew it was going to be amazing. The first track; "Interstate - I Found You" sets the scence for the entire ablum; pure uplifting trance with euphoric vocals. In a time when many trance DJs are experimenting with mixing different genres like electro and techno into trance, this CD goes back to the essence of trance. This compilation is a deep voyage evoking a range of emotions. You can dance, chill, work, think to this compilation. But most of all; you can feel this compilation. A definate 5 star album. Thanks Armin!
