5 out of 5 stars The album of 1999   May 29, 2000

Wow! As soon as the pumping beat of Mother Earth started I knew this album would be good. I bought this album on the strength of Armand's soundclash with Fatboy Slim, not on the two weekest tracks which were used as singles. And if You Don't Know Me can be called weak on this album, you just know the rest will be bangin'. The standout has got to be Necessary Evil, who thought the saw could make one of the best tracks of '99 if not the decade. If this album is just a warm up to Killing Puritans then it looks like 2000 will be Armand's year.

I've just bought this album and it is already one of my favourites.Armand van Helden plays with music, plays with house music in such an incredible way! The first track "Mother earth" is so powerful that the mega hit "U don't know me" seems so little."Entra mi casa" and "Flowerz" are incredibly sexy and finish this album in such a great way!But all of it is huge, all of this album is absolutely great! Just can't wait for "Killing puritans"! Buy it now,if you love music you will love this masterpiece.

5 out of 5 stars Creating the future sounds of dance.   May 7, 2000

Armand Van Helden is , in my opinion one of the current crop of dance pioneers and this CD showcases his talents to the full. The album has the stomping hits all seroius dance fans should know like "You don't know me" and the wonderfully strong and yet beautiful "Flowerz". But the Cd also has a number of hidden gems. "Summertime" has the most evocotive, soothing bassline and, dare I say it, summer vocals and melodies. "Psychic Bounty Killaz" sums up the way Mr Helden currently feels abount dance music. The track begins with a strong trance beat to which a number of gangsters can be heard to shoot the dancers with machine guns. The funky, bass then kicks in and we are thrust into a "real" house track. Armand has said that he feels that the dance music industry has stopped moving forward and is stuck on the increasingly bland trance and commercial house. In my opinion we are still moving but if it was not for Armand Van Helden we would have stopped. This will be hailed as a ground breaking album when we wake from our trance coma. (Check out his new album. If "Koochy" is anything to go by we will have to start marking out of six stars!)

3 out of 5 stars Stick with ity   February 3, 2000

Fortunately I bought this to broaden my musical horizons and not on the strength of the awesome single 'U Don't Know Me'. However, this and 'Flowerz' are the two tracks that really stand out at first listen. Stick with it and the other tracks will grow on you over time. I am growing to appreciate this as an album, rather than for the singles off it. This should become one of those timeless, reliable albums that you will never grow bored with and continue to enjoy more and more with each play. If it wasn't for the rather annoying (in my opinion) self-indulgencies thrown in this would be a five star.
