Supercharged melodic bliss November 30, 2007 S. Murphy (Ireland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Above and beyond deliver again with the fifth set in the series . I don't really have a personal favourite as they are all different in their own way and all equally superb . If you liked the first four ablums you'll love this one and with 2 discs you'll be listening for ages . This is full on trance at it's best mixed tightly . There simply aren't any other aritsts out there at the minute producing such consistent high quality sets as above and beyond . This album may lack the depth of a paul oakenfold set but it more than makes up for it in sheer energy and will leave you with a big grin on your face wanting more . Highs on the album for me are the first half of CD one which is flawless and tracks 6 and 11 on CD two . Track 11 on CD 2 is worth the album cost on it's own , buy it .
Above & Beyond my expectations November 11, 2007 Alan (Stafford, United Kingdom) Having been trying to catch up and keep up with the latest trance songs on the market, I was surprised when somebody told me that I should purchase Anjunabeats. I had heard of it previously, but for some reason the compilations had always passed me by. Having looked at the playlist, I knew I would be in relatively safe hands - A&B themselves had created some decent songs in the past, and artists of familiarity littered the album. And unsurprisingly, I wasn't disappointed. The genre of trance is privledged to have so many able and accurate mixers on the scene at the moment, and A&B have mixing talent in abundence. This volume of Anjunabeats offers us some melodic trance, progressive house, to harder and more bassy trance all in the space of 26 songs. It really does reach into all corners of the genre in 2007. On top of that, they have also given us some of their songs, all of which are of excellent quality. My personal favourite on the whole album is A&B's club version of Good For Me, which as an amazing uplifting vocal feeling to it. I will be sure to look and hopefully purchase some older Anjunabeats albums now, as well as look out for future ones. Let us hope that they, like van Buuren and Tiesto, contiune their good work in keeping the genre of trance not just alive, but powerful and passionate. A MUST if you like this genre of music.
Mindblowingly Good September 11, 2007 Mr. P. J. Courbet (Birmingham England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The first thing that comes to mind is the amount of people that keep saying trance is in a poor state. Some people just pick up the latest crasher complilation which consists of repeated classics and think there is no new trance material out there. Iv'e been buying anjunabeats since volume one, in which they constantly mix the best new tunes from their record label. This is the future of trance and frontlined by the most promising producers (Above And Beyond) since Paul Van Dyk. If you are a trance fan and haven't got this i seriously recommend a copy of it. In fact go buy the whole back catalogue of them 1-5 as they are the best series going at the moment. The only competition in my mind is Armin Van Buuren and the A State Of Trance compilations which i also recommend. Both prove trance may not be in the limelight at the moment but it is far from in a poor state as some would claim!
Anjunabeats Vol 5 July 17, 2007 C. Allen (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Anjunabeats, for me, is without doubt the label best showcasing the trance sound at the mo, and whilst i don't think this is their best effort (but to be fair, their recent mixes have been absolute corkers!), it's still a good comp.
A worthy addition to the series June 3, 2007 Trance Trousers (Portsmouth, UK) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have all the other Anjunabeats CDs (volumes 1-4 plus Worldwide 01) and I bought this on pre-order based solely on the quality of those previous releases - I was not disappointed! All of the tracks were new to me, with the exception of 'Needs To Feel' 'Good For Me' and the original version of 'Razorfish', but I liked every one. They are all, pretty much, great examples of uplifting melodic trance and so this new double CD comes highly recommended.
