Above and Beyond! Kings of Trance! April 5, 2008 Daniel Philpotts (Malvern, England, UK) First of all. every mix by above and beyond will be great. but for me this is probably the best to date. the track selection is spot on. i love the last track: made of sun - kyau & Albert. but the whole album makes your hairs stand on end. i recently saw them at Godskitchen/Air and they were awesome. im looking forward to new cd anjunabeats 100 from rio to goa. The kings of trance no doubt. the no.1 spot is there for the taking. Keep up the good work. buy this cd!!!
Very good, relaxed trance September 20, 2007 north (UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this product about 5 months ago now, so I have had the chance to listen to it both intensively and casually. This was the first Anjunabeats compilation I bought - I have since purchased Anjunabeats Four and Five.
For casual listening, this is an excellent compilation. Play the odd few songs, or the album quietly while working or whatever, and it will complement perfectly. Very uplifting music.
For an intense trance session though, I find this album to be a little bland, with few songs that truly stand out (those being Larry Mountains 54, Time Goes By, and Made of Sun). Air for Life is great, but I prefer the original mix by a long way. The rest tend to blend into one another - so if you're listening for the part that takes your breath away that I personally love about trance, it rarely comes. Perhaps that was the intention with this album?
Worth the purchase at this price (only ~5), but if you're looking for more deep/emotional/tuneful trance, I'd be more inclined to look at A&B's Tri-State, or one of van Buuren's State of Trance mixes.
Thanks,

It's rare for me to listen to a CD, ANY CD, and not find a bad track. Studio albums usually have some singles, some hidden gems and some filler. Dance compilations usually end up having one disc that's better than the other, or a few dull tracks scattered here and there that spoil your enjoyment somewhat.
This is not one of those CDs. This is possibly the best trance mix in existence.
THIS is what trance is all about. Track after track of shiver-inducing melodies, the kind you can really get lost in.
Every single track is great. The mixing is superb. And the track order is faultless. From the driving "Eighties" to the conclusive "Made Of Sun", every moment of this mix will stay with you for a long time.
Of particular note is "Sirens of the Sea" - Oceanlab have yet to put out a bad track, and this is no exception. In the middle there's a trio of excellent tracks - "Alt + F4", "Northern Lights", and "Time Goes By" - the latter of which is nothing short of beautiful.
And best of all, this isn't a one-off: every Anjunabeats release is worth getting. I'll admit to not being sure about Anjunabeats Vol. 5 or Worldwide 01 just yet - maybe I need to give them some more time. But Anjunabeats Vols 1-4 all come HIGHLY recommended from someone who is highly critical and a long-time trance fan. This volume is probably the best of them all.
I cannot recommend this enough. You HAVE to have this.
Anjunabeats Finest? November 3, 2006 Tyler Gray (Kent, U.K) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This, the third offering of the Anjunabeats collection is the first selection I purchased; buying volume four soon afterwards. If you have any kind of passion for uplifting trance music then this is up there with the best of them. Above and Beyond (aka Oceanlab) do a superb job choosing and mixing 14 gems. Highlights for me are...erm....well, pretty much everything on here really. If I had to pick a fave track it would probably be Sirens of The Sea, but to be fair, it's all good. Hard to dislike, and easy to love, Anjunabeats volume 3 is an extremely worthy collection to any devoted trance addict.
Beautiful Trance August 25, 2006 Shevy Bhoy (Glasgow,Scotland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
What a cd. Anjunabeats just keeps on gettin better. Although I love the fourth anjunabeats, this one is my personal favourite. Anjunabeats 3 has got such a great rhythm to it. Quality chilled out and uplifting trance all in the one cd. The mixing is superb. Some of the songs by artists like Smith & Pledger, Carrie Skipper, Aalto and Oceanlab are unbelievable but my favourite song has to be by Alt+F4 which is just the perfect trance song, so uplifting. I cant recommend this cd highly enough. So many more people would appreciate trance if they listened to this cd.
